Seventy nine – A Star Trek art series

Over on Quit Your Day Job (my old blog for those of you fairly new around these parts) I started a series called “Seventy Nine” which was going to feature an illustration from each of the original Star Trek series episodes.

Essentially I’m (slowly) working my way through the Blu-ray episodes and each time I watch one I’m producing an image from that episode (or inspired by) and over on the old blog I was giving the episode a bit of a review.

I’m going to continue that project over here (I’ve just completed the Balance of Terror illustration!!) and thought I’d post all the episodes so far:

Now you can buy most of these over on my Society 6 store and I’ll be working my way through getting them all up there very soon so if you have one you’d like on the wall they’ll all be available.

Hope you enjoy them, I’ve actually really loved putting them together!

      Cheers!!!

It felt really good drawing the Balance of Terror one today because whilst my style has changed slightly it still fit the collection.

It’s also nice going through the episodes as well (Next Gen comes out in a couple of days on blu-ray which is good news for Ensign Dave fans)

I’ll notify Ensign What’s-His-Name’s next of kin. May your voyages through those first couple of seasons of next-gen be “agreeable”! :)

they’ve delayed the blu-rays so that means the relaunch of Ensign Dave gets a delay as well… sad face

Just wanted to say that I just love these Lee, fantastic! I really started going through season 1 this spring, but have gotton side tracked……think I made it to disc 7……..so not too many left to go….then the next two seasons. Its a lot to take on.

That first season of original Star Trek is some of the best television and I’m really loving going through them (especially in hi def). I too got sidetracked but around disc five or so :)

Season two is quite good as well, season three you have to pick out the good from the bad.

Have you seen City on the Edge of Forever yet? It’s possibly the best Star Trek episode ever.

Yup, I have the Best of Trek dvd, I think it has Balance of Terror, Amok Time, Trouble with Tribbles and City on the Ege of Forever. Those last two are probably my favorites actually, now that I think about it.
I had to see City on the Edge of Forever becasue I read that novel Crucible: McCoy: Provenance of Shadows which is awesome, lol. Hadn’t seen a ST episode in years until I read that book, and it(and the new movie of course)got me rehooked and into the orginal series. Probably how he became my favorite as well.

That’s awesome, despite being a massive Star Trek fan I’ve not seen some of these episodes (mainly a couple of third season episodes) more than once and then it was quite a few years ago so I’m really looking forward to going through them all.

I’ve also got the Animated series to look at when I’m finished with the Original series as well.

Trouble with Tribbles and City on the Edge of Forever are also two of my favourites easily.

Also OMG I forgot to say thanks!!! The Star Trek illustrations are a labour of love as I don’t think they’re always so popular with the readership so it’s always nice to hear positives about them!!
